Sharon Mistri

Director & Clinical Psychologist

I understand that change, whether it’s stepping into a new role, life transitions, or navigating the unexpected, can be both daunting and exciting. Over the years, I have witnessed the courage it takes to show up in these moments, when the journey feels uncertain.

I am a South Asian woman born in Mauritius, a French-speaking island, and ethnically Mauritian Indian. I moved to Brisbane in my late teens, where I began my journey into psychology. My own journey has shaped the way I hold space for others. Adapting to a new way of life brought moments of identity shifts, grief and loss alongside change and growth.

For over a decade, I have had the privilege in working alongside people and supporting their mental health journey in private practice, hospital, and community mental health settings. I work with a range of presentations including mood and anxiety disorders, chronic pain, complex trauma, perfectionism and substance use.

I have a special interest in working within the eating disorder space and supporting women in their perinatal journey. Working with those who hold multiple cultural identities is an area also close to my heart. Together, we gently explore how culture shapes your inner world and how it can be a source of strength, identity, and belonging, while also holding expectations or pressures that may feel difficult to carry alone (particularly South-Asian mental health).

In our sessions, you’ll find a safe and compassionate space to make the unconscious, conscious - one insight at a time. For me, therapy is a partnership where growth happens through insight & change, whether a mental health condition is present or not.

Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorder Credentials

I am an Eating Disorder Credentialed psychologist and have a particular interest in the assessment and treatment of Eating Disorders. I have worked as part of a multidisciplinary team as part of hospital settings and private practice settings to support individuals change their health behaviours. Being credentialed allows me to stay connected with the latest evidence-based approaches while I support those impacted with care, confidence, and compassion.

Board Approved Clinical Supervisor

I am a board-approved supervisor and currently provide clinical supervision to provisional psychologists as part of their postgraduate training at Griffith University and Queensland University of Technology.

My supervision style is adaptive and attuned to each supervisee’s stage of development. My aim is to create a collaborative, growth-oriented environment where reflective practice and clinical skill-building go hand in hand.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Life with my two children is often a mix of slowing down and chasing after them. I find joy in planning family & friends’ reunions, celebrating life’s small wins, and recreating my family’s favourite recipes, bringing a sense of home wherever I may be.
